Institute of Ethics and Culture (IEC) President Haleem Sharar declared here on Wednesday the movement for 'Ashra-e-Amn' '10 and (more) peaceful days' was being launched by his organisation from Saturday June 23 to promote love for humanity, brotherhood and civic peace which had been threatened regularly in the past.
Addressing a press conference on the Institute 'Ashra-e-Amn' (10 and more Peaceful Days) in Karachi, he said this was being observed because the world was today standing on the edge of a disaster. Everywhere there was fire and everybody was more interested in collecting gunpowder.
He claimed that all the important leaders in the sub-continent and later in Pakistan had stood for peace and fraternal ties among all sections of the people. Yet, there were chaste and bloodshed. He asked why every decade there is a bloody riot and clashes for creating disorder and anarchy.
Haleem Sharar said that the Institute of Culture and Ethics sought to remove this deplorable situation and replace it with a campaign towards accommodation, love and living together for peace and harmony. The campaign will be peaceful and backed by logic stressing the need for living together in harmony for progress and prosperity of people in Karachi, in other cities and villages of Pakistan, he added.
Haleem Sharar said that all NGOs and individuals agreeing with the programme and wishing to contribute their share to securing peace could call him on telephones 0307-2752716 and 2751742 and 2762234, Room 203, Al-Falah Market second Floor, Haji Abdullah Haroon Road, Karachi.
