The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) on Wednesday criticised the federal budget, saying that prices of some products would increase further due to recently announced measures by the government.
ICCI President Muhammad Nasir Khan, who was chairing the post-budget session in the chamber's headquarter, said that few products would get expensive due to government policy, while steps taken to boost textile exports are also unsatisfactory as some of textile units are sick and are unable to achieve targets.
He was of the view that construction material would get even more expensive due to the increase of sales tax rate on some imported items. He demanded of the government to take bold steps to overcome energy crisis and give relief to industry on high consumption rather than increasing the billing amount, saying that national capital would be transferred abroad due to relief of three years for importing car instead of five years.
