Police arrest MQM-Pakistan leader Dr Farooq Sattar

Karachi: Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan leader, Dr Farooq Sattar was arrested when he was coming back from a wedding in PAF museum, Karachi.

Initial TV reports suggest that Farooq Sattar was arrested on charges of fecilitating a hate speech delivered by MQM founder Altaf Hussain. An ATC in Karachi had issued arrest warrant for Dr Sattar.

On Aug 22, the day of the speech, Sindh Rangers had taken Sattar and MQM leader Khawaja Izharul Hasan into custody from outside Karachi Press Club.

Leaders and workers of MQM-Pakistan have started gathering in PIB colony for an emergency meeting.

A heavy contingent of Police has surrounded the area to keep the law and order situation under control.

Sattar is likely to be presented before the Anti Terrorism Court on Saturday, March 18, 2017.
