Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) has condemned the government for allegedly trying to present the killing of Additional Registrar Supreme Court (SC) Syed Hammad Raza as a result of dacoity.
The bar here held a condolence reference to say prayer for the departed souls of additional registrar SC, Syed Hammad Raza, late mother of Justice Falak Sher, various lawyers and the people who died during Karachi clashes.
Speaking at the reference, lawyers accused that late Syed Hammad was killed for not becoming witness against Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. Former president LHCBA Ahmed Awais said that soon after the suspension of Justice Chaudhry, intelligence agencies arrested Hammad and physically tortured him. He was forced to speak against CJP but on failure government got him killed. Awais said that the Hammad's killing was a target killing as his widow, his father, mother and neighbours were the eyewitnesses.
LHCBA secretary Sarfraz Cheema declared killings in Karachi clashes and bomb blast in Peshawar a clear failure of the government and demanded immediate free and fair elections under the supervision of an independent election commission.
At the end, advocate Hafiz Abdul Rehman Ansari offered Fateha for the departed souls.
