Govt to pay Rs30bn to IPPs next week: Senate told

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif Wednesday said that government would pay Rs. 30 billion to Independent Power Producers (IPPs) during next week.

Speaking on a calling attention notice in National Assembly, he said that government had separate agreement with each IPP.

The minister said that government could not fix the due dates for payment of electricity bills, because due date of billings were in rotation across the country.

He said that it was the responsibility of NEPRA to monitor the tariff of IPPs.

The minister said that the if the house needed any debate or questions about Ministry of Water and Power, it was ready to answer.
