Rear Admiral Noman Bashir on Monday took over charge of Commander Pakistan Fleet from Vice Admiral Asaf Humayun at ceremony held at Abdoze Ground, PN Dockyard here. Rear Admiral Noman Bashir would be in-charge of all naval ships, missile boats, mine hunters, submarines and aircraft.
He was commissioned in 1973. He is an aviator and a rotary pilot. He did his staff course from Joint Services Staff College and graduation from Armed Forces War College, Pakistan. He has served on command and staff appointments including Commander Naval Aviation, Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Operations), Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Projects), also commanded an aviation squadron and a destroyer. In recognition of his meritorious services, he has been awarded Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military), Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) and Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (Military).
Outgoing Commander Pakistan Fleet Vice Admiral Asaf Humayun said apart from normal operational duties, Fleet had been persistently involved in Maritime Coalition Campaign, which received commendations from all corners. Naval Fleet actively participated in exercises like Pabeen-e-Behr, Bright Star, Seaspark, Inspired Siren and recently held multinational exercises Aman 07 wherein pivotal role of PN fleet deserves great applause.
