Development of deprived areas priority of government: CM

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday said Punjab government had provided resources to less-developed areas and development of these deprived areas was being done on priority basis.

He was presiding over a meeting which reviewed progress on different ongoing development projects for the welfare of people.

Addressing the meeting, Shehbaz Sharif said Muslim League-N government considered welfare and well being of people its prime objective, and added that public welfare was pivot of the government.

The development in education, healthcare, provision of clean drinking water and other social sectors was our priority, the CM said.

A composite strategy had been adopted for a balanced development of urban and rural areas and every step was taken for welfare of the impecunious strata and provision of basic amenities to them, he added.

He said pace of development with which schemes of public welfare being completed was unprecedented. Transparency and high standard was ensured in development projects, he added.

The Punjab government had provided more resources for development and prosperity of South Punjab as compared to its population as mega projects worth billions of rupees had been completed there, the chief minister said.

He said, on one hand, Multan Metro Bus Service had given a new identity to the city of Multan, and, on the other hand, it had provided high quality transport facility to the people of South Punjab.

He said additional funds were being given for development of South Punjab.
