Mayor Karachi inaugurates water filter plant in Jam Goth

KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar Monday inaugurated a water filtration plant in Jam Goth here.

The Mayor was accompanied by the chairman of District Municipal Corporation (DMC) Korangi Syed Nayyar Raza and Sr. Director Municipal Services, whereas District Council Chairman Abdullah Murad, Aziz Memon from Rotary International and Project Manager Ashar Ali were also present on the occasion, said a statement issued here.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, the Mayor said it is essential to provide clean water to save people from waterborne diseases.

He said attention should also be paid to suburban areas besides solving the problems of main city areas. Wasim Akhtar said the provision of filtered water will be extended to other such areas to ensure availability of uniform facilities to all the people. National Chair of Rotary International Aziz Memon said the plant would supply 3000 gallon daily to cater to the needs of 50,000 people.

He said the plant is backed by solar energy and such plants will also be installed in other areas of the city.
