LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said on Sunday that journey of progress and prosperity, the foundation of which has been laid in 2016, would speedily be continued in 2017.

Talking to a delegation of PML-N here, he said there would be politics of progress of the country and prosperity of people in 2017 and it was the year of completion of promises and projects, asserting that under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, rapid development made in different sectors during last year was unprecedented.

The chief minister said developmental projects, including energy ones, were being executed speedily with high standard, while a number of projects were also being completed rapidly under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

He said work was being carried out round-the-clock on 1320-Megawatt Coal Power Project in Sahiwal which would be completed by early next year.

Shehbaz Sharif said there would be politics of only progress and prosperity, adding that people wanted to create hurdles in development and prosperity of people and the country through jugglery would again fail in future.

The chief minister said conscious people of Pakistan by denouncing protest politics had exposed a handful of political elements and politics of allegations, lies and protests had died now.

He said people wanted to create hurdles in the way of progress and prosperity of the masses had become politically isolated and enemies of progress and prosperity were needed to review their attitude, because people of Pakistan wanted only progress, prosperity and peace.

Shehbaz Sharif said there was no value of personal interests before the interests of Pakistan and the PML-N had always done politics of norms, adding that all would have to move jointly for development and prosperity of the country.

He said 2017 would be the year of completion of projects.
