Shipping activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Eight ships Maersk Kensington, CMA CGM Thames, Allience Fairfax, Georgia-T Ginga Ocelot, Gemini Gas, Al- Gashamiya and Bahra carrying containers, vehicles, canola seeds, chemicals, LPG, LNG and diesel oil were allotted berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Grain and Fertilizer Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Tuesday.

Meanwhile five more ships carrying containers, project cargo, diesel oil and furnace oil also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim (PQ) during last 24 hours.

Berth occupancy was managed at the port at 53% on Tuesday where a total of eight ships namely Maersk Kensington, CMA CGM Thames, Allience Fairfax, Georgia-T, Ginga Ocelot, Gemini Gas, Al-Ghashamiya and Bahra are currently occupying berths to load/offload Containers, Rice, Canola Seeds, Chemical, LPG and Furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.

A cargo volume of 136,076 tonnes, comprising 128,476 tonnes, import cargo and 7,600 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 3,300 containers TEUs), 2,900 imports TUEs & 400 TUEs exports) was handled at the port during last 24 hours.

M.V Allience Fairfax sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while two more ships Thoroco Attraction and Maersk Kensington are expected to sail on same day.

Four ships Maersk Gibraltar, Thorco Attraction, Da Fu and Mariman scheduled to load/offload Containers, Rice and Project Cargo are expected to take berths at Containers Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal respectively on Wednesday, while Containers ships MSC Busan and Bulk cargo carrier Amoy Action are due to arrive at Port Qasim on same day, and another containers ship Mehuin is due to arrive at PQ on Thursday.
