PML-N wins elections on top slots in Multan

MULTAN: Pakistan Muslim League-N and allied groups have won election of District Council Chairman, Chairmen Municipal Committees district Multan and Municipal Corporation of Multan city with a thumping majority.

According to unofficial results issued here on Thursday, PML-N candidate Diwan Muhammad Abbas Bukhari won the election of Chairman District Council Multan by securing 99 votes against his rival from PPP Ghulam Dastgir Athangal who got 25 votes.

PML-N candidate Naveed Ul Haq Arain won Multan mayor election by defeating PTI nominee Malik Adnan Dogar with a big margin.

Naveed Ul Haq Arain secured 71 votes against his opponent from PTI Adnan Dogar who could be able to get 19 votes. Naveed Arain is a brother of former provincial minister Chaudhry Abdul Waheed Arain.

In Municipal Committees, PML-N candidate Dr. Rafiq Ahmad has been elected unopposed as the chairman Municipal Committee of Tahsil Shujabad while an independent candidate, Saleem Sattar advocate, having affiliation with PML-N, won the election for chairman seat of Municipal Committee Jalalpur Pirwala, district Multan.

According to Rizwan Qadeer, Returning Officer for Multan Municipal Corporation election and Deputy Returning Officer Ahmad Ali, the entire election process remained peaceful. He said the final and official result would be announced tomorrow at 10 am.
