Rs8bn being spent for rehabilitation, reconstruction of quake affected schools in KP
He said under the Peshawar uplift program Rs110 millions are being spent for renovation and rehabilitation of 22 affected schools in provincial capital, adding that the amount could be increased if deemed necessary.
He said this after inaugurating the newly constructed building of Government Girls Primary School Asiya Park Peshawar that was damaged during the earthquake. An amount of Rs3.7 million was spent on new building.
He said that the KP government is paying more attention to female education and has decided to allocate 70 per cent share for girls and 30 per cent for boys in new schools.
He said that at present 1400 community schools are being constructed across the province for the females and the teachers for the schools would be appointed from the communities.
The Minister said that the government as part of efforts to promote female education has fixed Rs200 monthly scholarship for students from sixth to tenth grades, adding that for the students of Torghar and Kohistan and other backward areas of KP, the scholarship amount is Rs2500 till primary level.
The Minister said that all the suggestions for further improvement in education especially for females would be welcomed.
