National Beijing +20 review report under process

ISLAMABAD: National Commission on Status of Women (NCSW) is working on a National Beijing +20 Review Report to portray social and economic situation of women in the country.

The report was being compiled under the pursuit of Convention on Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women ratification.

The document included steps taken by the government to improve the image of women on national and international levels during the last two years, an official of Ministry of Human Rights told APP on Thursday.

He informed that the government had taken a number of steps for welfare and well being of women during this time span, including national policy on home based workers, national policy on ending violence against women and girls.

Besides that, Hindu Marriage Bill, 2016 had been introduced in the National Assembly for its enactment, Finalization of the Christian Marriage (Amendment) Bill, 2013 and Divorce (Amendment) Bill 2014 and Draft Reproductive Health Care Bill 2014, he added.

An Action Plan for Human Rights, approved by the Prime Minister on February 13, was also being implemented in the country which had an outcome regarding Protection of Women Rights and Elimination of Gender Based Violence, he said.
