Senate to constitute Pak-Colombia Friendship Group

ISLAMABAD: Senate would constitute Pakistan-Colombia Friendship Group to explore and establish the parliamentary linkages between two countries to promote people to people contacts and learn from each others experiences.

This was agreed in a meeting of the Ambassador of Colombia Juan Alfredo Pinto Saavedra with the Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani who called him here at the Parliament House on Thursday.

Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani speaking on the occasion said Pakistan democracy is passing through a transaction phase and we can learn a lot from the experiences of Colombia especially in the area of conflict resolution and to further fine tune the constitutional parameters of the different institutions of the country.

He said the solution to the problems of the country is in a consistent and continued democratic process and Rule of Law.

He said being a federation Pakistan can learn from the Colombian experience of conflict resolution among different federating units and segments of society for better social integration and national cohesion.

The ambassador of Colombia also visited the Gali-e-Dastoor and witnessed the constitutional and democratic history of Pakistan. Senator Shibli Fraz was also present on this occasion.
