Asif, speaking to ARY News, was not pleased with Wahab’s performance against the New Zealand and was of the view that he cannot bowl in Australia and New Zealand conditions, terming him an ‘Asian pitch’ bowler.

“Wahab can only perform on Asian pitches,” Muhammad Asif said, adding that Rahat Ali would have been a much better choice against New Zealand in the second and last match of the series that visitors lost 2-0.

“Rahat Ali should have been given a chance to play for the team.”

However, it is pertinent to mention here that one of Wahab’s best known performances came in Australia during the Cricket World Cup against the Aussies themselves. Wahab’s lethal pace and short pitch deliveries particularly against Shane Watson became one of the most memorable moments of the tournament.

The former national player further slammed the rest of Pakistan pace attack saying that the bowlers forgot where to pitch the red ball, and were bowling at the wicket keeper instead of the batsmen.

Asif is part of the infamous trio including Salman Butt and Muhammad Amir that were convicted for spot-fixing in England.
