Two killed, one missing in fuel tank fire

KARACHI: Two people were reported killed and another was missing in a fuel tank fire in Karachi's Kemari area on Saturday, an official of the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) said.

He stated that the fire erupted in the Kemari Oil Installations Area where the private oil terminals are located.

The KPT official said that the two dead were the surveyors of a private oil firm. Another of the surveyors was reported missing, he added.

One snorkel each of the Pakistan Navy and the KPT were spraying foam and water in order to control the fire. Eight fire tenders of the KPT, four from Pakistan Navy and three from the City District Government were also at work trying to put out the fire.

The KPT official said that the cause of the fire could not be ascertained immediately.

He further stated that the first focus was to put out the blaze.
