Chinese investors delegation visits ICCI to explore business opportunities

ISLAMABAD: Guobin Zhao, Chairman, Zhengde International Investment Group of China and Chairman China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Executive Council along with a delegation visited Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) aiming to explore opportunities for business collaborations.

He urged upon the local business community to accelerate efforts for exploring investment opportunities in CPEC projects.

Senator Muhammad Talha Mahmood, Chairman, Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat and Establishment Division was also present at the occasion, a statement of the chamber issued here said.

Guobin Zhao said China offered huge trade opportunities to Pakistani business community and they should visit China to tap all untapped areas of promoting trade and exports.

He said the purpose of their visit to Pakistan was to know the point of view of local business community about CPEC project and explore new opportunities of matchmakings with Pakistani counterparts.

Senator Muhammad Talha Mahmood said CPEC should provide fair opportunities to the businessmen of China and Pakistan.

He said many Chinese investors were expected to set up industrial units in Pakistan under CPEC and they should give preference to local people in jobs that would help in reducing unemployment and poverty from our country.

He said Chinese investors should invest in corporate social responsibilities in Pakistan by making useful contribution towards health, education and social welfare activities.

He said enhancing contacts between the private sectors of both countries would be helpful in further improving bilateral trade and economic relations.

Addressing the delegation, Khalid Iqbal Malik, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry said Pakistan's economy offered great potential to Chinese investors for joint ventures and investment.

He said Chinese investors should focus on energy, information technology, agriculture and other sectors in Pakistan to reap lucrative returns.

He said CPEC should be mutually beneficial for Pakistan and China and it should ensure level playing field for the businessmen and investors of both countries.

Khalid Malik Senior Vice President, Tahir Ayub Vice President ICCI, Khalid Javed, Nasir Qureshi, Khalid Chaudhry, Naeem Siddiqui and others were also present at the occasion.
