Shipping activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Four ships MSC Al-Ghero, Bunga Allium, Sea Delta and Maria-III carrying Containers, palm oil, chemicals and LPG were arranged berthing at Qasim International container Terminal, Liquid cargo terminal, Engro Vopak terminal and SSGC LPG Terminal respectively on Tuesday.

Meanwhile three more ships Sienna Princess, Elan Bital and Maersk Stockholm carrying LPG, diesel and containers oil also arrived at out anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.

Fifty three percent berth occupancy was observed at the port on Tuesday, where a total of eight ships namely MSC AL-Ghero, MSC Valencia, Lia-M, Bunga Allium, Sea Delta, Maria-III and Wall Eye were occupied PQA berths to load/offload containers, cement, canola seeds, palm oil, chemicals, LPG and diesel oil respectively during last 24 hours.

Cargo throughput during last 24 hours stood at 117,480 tonnes, comprising 89,710 tonnes imports cargo and 27,770 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 2,268 containers TEUs) 1,164 imports TUEs) was handled at the port.

Two ships, Bulk cargo carrier 'Lia-M' and chemicals carrier 'Sea Delta' sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning.

Three ships, Maersk Stockholm, Kavo Platanos and Sienna Princess carrying containers, canola seeds and LPG are expected to take berths at Container Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal and SGC Terminal respectively on Wednesday, while another ship 'Bulk Chile' carrying 39,400 tonnes coal is due to arrive at Port Qasim on same day.
