HONG KONG: Hong Kong shares closed higher Tuesday along with most Asian markets as investors bet on a Hillary Clinton victory in a knife-edge US presidential election.

The Hang Seng Index added 0.47 percent, or 108.07 points, to end at 22,909.47.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index climbed 0.46 percent or 14.56 points, to 3,147.89 as investors brushed off another below-forecast Chinese trade report.

The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, rose 0.66 percent, or 13.63 points, to 2,080.44.
