'Khanewal rail track dualisation by June 30'

Dualisation of the railway track from Lodhran to Khanewal would be completed by June 30 this year, said Federal Minister for Railways, Mian Shamim Haider.
Talking to APP here on Sunday, the minister further said, the Lahore-Peshawar section of the track will be dialysed in the next phase which would help improve the performance of the Pakistan Railways.
He said, the whole railway infrastructure is being refurbished besides replacing old coaches and repairing/replacing of old tracks.
"We are committed to provide speedy, timely and better transportation facilitates to Pakistan Railways users", he added. To a question about dams, the minister welcomed President's announcement for construction of Bhasha and Munda dams to bring more barren lands under cultivation and generate hydro-electricity for commercial and domestic purposes.
When asked about Kalabagh dam, Shamim Haidar said, President Pervez Musharraf has delayed the construction of Kalabagh dam to seek consent of all the provinces and announced the construction of two other dams to keep the nation united.
"Kalabagh dam is inevitable for the development of the country particularly for the uplift of its agriculture sector" he added.
