Director General Operational Ministry of Railways, Syed Nasir Zaidi Monday said that about 145-km Khokhrapar railway track had been completed with a cost of Rs 1 billion in record period of eight months.
Speaking at a PTV programme, he said the track of Meter Gauge (MG) was converted into Broad Gauge (BG) in a record time, which was normally accomplished in 18 to 20 months to start the train service.
He said initially the train service would be run on weekly basis and the frequency of the trains could be later enhanced depending on the traffic of passengers.
For the first six months, Pakistani train would cross into India to Munabao, thereafter the Indian train would cross into Pakistan to Zero point Railway Station near Khokhrapar, he said adding this six monthly process would be repeated alternatively.
