NWFP Governor Khalil-ur-Rehman has ruled out cropping up of differences between him and the Chief Minister, Akram Durrani due to row being existed between them over appointment of Advocate General of the province. Talking to newsmen at the Gold Medal and Export Trophy Award ceremony of Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry held on Monday night at a local hotel the governor said that disagreement between him and the Chief Minister was over the procedure of appointment of the AG and the dispute is resolved amicably.
"Akram Durrani is my old friend and we have not taken the issue as personal the governor remarked.
The matter was settled down after interference of Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and subsequent resignation by the new Advocate General from the post.
Governor Khalilur Rehman said he had differences over the names proposed by provincial government for the post of Advocate General due to their political affiliations and therefore he ordered appointment of Advocate Hamid Durrani for being a competent candidate free from political influence.
The next Advocate General, he continued, would be appointed on the basis of competence and merit.
