Greek debt impasse sends US markets falling

NEW YORK : US stocks opened sharply down Tuesday as the impasse over whether Greece should get new bailout funds kept

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 132.59 points (1.24 percent) to 10,522.71 in the first minutes of trade.

The broader S&P 500 was off 13.44 (1.22 percent) at 1,085.79, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq lost 22.62 points (0.97 percent) to 2,313.21.

"Against this bearish backdrop, the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) is bracing for a third straight triple-digit drop, while the broader S&P 500 Index (SPX) is headed even deeper into annual-low territory," said Andrea Kramer of Schaeffer's Investment Research.
