CBR Member HRM empowered to take action against BS-16 officers

The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) has empowered Member Human Resource Management (HRM) Zafar Aziz Osmani for taking disciplinary action against Grade BS-16 tax officers. These tax officers include those working at CBR Headquarters, and Income Tax, Customs, Central Excise and Sales Tax Department.
The decision would not only help in effective checking of the Grade-16 officers' working at field formations but would also simultaneously assist in their capacity-building.
According to a notification issued here on Monday, the Member (HRM) will have the authority to initiate disciplinary action against officials of BS-16 under 'Removal from Service (Special Powers) Ordinance 2000'.
Member HRM would be the 'competent authority' as defined in section 2(aa) of the Ordinance 2000 for taking such action.
