The head of consumer bank of Citi Group (Pakistan), Haroon Bashir, has reportedly taken early retirement. Ahmad Khizar Khan is expected to take over his assignment.
He has moved back to the home base from the Czech Republic.
The former President of Marketing Association of Pakistan, Haroon Bashir has had an illustrious career spanning 35 years, which includes working for the Joint Venture of Phillip Morris Tobacco affiliate in Pakistan. Later, Haroon was the Head of American Express Travels.
He entered the banking field with the launch of Consumer Banking Division at MCB and, in 1999, joined Citibank in Karachi.
At the time of his take-over, the consumer franchise was losing heavily even though overall Citi was making a profit. In the last three-and-a-half years, Haroon worked with considerable distinction and was instrumental in leading the business to profitability.
Haroon Bashir is believed to have declined an overseas posting and opted to retire.
Ahmad Khizar Khan was heading the operations network of Citibank's East European cluster consisting of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, etc.
