Veteran trade unionist Sharif passes away

A veteran trade unionist and President Pakistan National Federation of Trade Unions (PNFTU) Mohammad Sharif died of heart failure on Thursday morning.
According to trade union sources, he was 72. He survived with one widow, two sons and two daughters.
Sharif was elected as Director of International Federation of Petroleum workers in 1962 and also remained President of Pakistan Petroleum Workers Federation from 1955 to 1979.
He also remained President of PNFTU since 1962 till his death.
The late trade unionist represented Pakistan at various international fora including International Confederation of Trade unions ICFTU and APRO.
