Veteran politician Abdul Hameed Khan Jatoi was laid to rest here at his ancestral graveyard, Beeto Jatoi, on Sunday afternoon.
Former MNA Abdul Hameed Khan Jatoi, 85, was the father of Federal Minister for Industries and Production Liaquat Ali Jatoi and Member of Sindh Assembly Sadaqat Ali Jatoi and grandfather of MPA Ehsan Ali Jatoi.
He suffered heart attack while attending the wedding ceremony of his granddaughter in Hyderabad late Saturday night.
His body was taken to Beeto Jatoi, where his funeral prayers were held in the presence of a large number of notables and politicians, who had come from different parts of the province.
Sindh Chief Minister Sardar Ali Muhammed Khan Maher, provincial ministers Altaf Unnar, Irfanullah Marwat, Dr Irfan Gul Magsi, Sadaruddin Shah, Advisors Aftab Shaikh and Ghulam Rasool Unnar also attended the funeral prayers of Abdul Hameed Khan Jatoi, and expressed condolences with his sons Liaquat Ali Khan Jatoi, MPA Ahsan Jatoi and MPA Sadaqat Jatoi.
All business activities in Beeto Jatoi remained closed since morning, while the death of Abdul Hameed Khan Jatoi was also mourned in Dadu Town.
CONDOLENCES: President General Pervez Musharraf, Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, Senate Chairman Mohammedmian Soomro and Sindh Chief Minister Ali Mohammad Khan Mahar have expressed their deep grief and sorrow over the sad demise of veteran politician Sardar Abdul Hameed Jatoi.
They prayed that Allah Almighty may rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the members of the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
In their separate condolence messages, the President and the Prime Minister paid glowing tributes to the services rendered by the late parliamentarian.
They said that late Abdul Hameed Jatoi stood for decency and sobriety in politics and committed to democratic norms and principles. They also eulogised his services for the Pakistan movement.
Senate Chairman Mohammedmian Soomro, appreciating the contribution of late Abdul Hameed Jatoi as a parliamentarian, said that he was a seasoned and veteran politician who played very important role in the democratic process of the country.
He said the services rendered by late Abdul Hameed Jatoi will be remembered forever.
Deputy Chairman of Senate Sardar Mohammed Yaqoob and Leader of the House Wasim Sajjad have also expressed their sorrow over the sad demise of the veteran politician.
Sindh Chief Minister Sardar Ali Mohammad Khan Mahar described the death of Abdul Hameed Khan Jatoi as a big vacuum in Sindh politics, which is unlikely to be fulfilled for long.
