SC issues notices to AGP, JAG br. over conviction of person by military court

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Friday issued notices to the Attorney General for Pakistan, Judge Advocate General (JAG) branch and other respondents in the case regarding awarding of death sentence to a person by the military court.

The military court awarded death sentence to Mahboob over his links with the banned organizations on January 1, 2016.

The three-member bench of the court headed by Justice Amir Hani Muslim heard the case. During the course of proceedings, Counsel for petitioner Col (retd) Muhammad Akram pleaded the court to grant time for reviewing the military court's record in the case.

Justice Amir Hani Muslim remarked that the killer of innocent people should be hanged. Akram stated that all legal formalities should be completed before hanging of any person.

The court issued notices to respondents and adjourned hearing of the case for one week.
