SHC issues contempt notices to the Sindh University

HYDERABAD: Sindh High Court here Wednesday issued contempt notices to the Sindh University in a petition filed by Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University, Nawabshah.

According to the details, the two universities are at loggerheads over opening up of a campus by the former in Noshehro Feroze district.

Advocate Ravi R Pinjani, the petitioner's counsel, prayed that the SHC had issued a stay order against establishment of the Noshehro Feroze campus on April 14, 2014.

However, in violation of the stay the Sindh University's Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Abida Taherani recently performed the foundation stone laying ceremony of the campus and announced that Sindh Government had approved Rs. 50 million for the construction, he added.

The Hyderabad Circuit Bench Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro and Justice Muhammad Iqbal Mehar put the Sindh University on notice for January 27.
