The incident took place during rush hour shortly after 9:30 am at the Beijing Zoo station on line 4, Beijing MTR Corporation said in a statement, attributing the accident to "equipment failure".
An investigation has been launched, it said.
Police declined to comment on the accident when contacted by AFP.
