COAS inaugurates new academic block at MCJ

RAWALPINDI: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has inaugurated the new academic block at Military College Jhelum (MCJ).

This academic block is part of a master plan, which besides renovation of two cadet houses and the auditorium, includes construction of a swimming pool, mosque, riding club, firing range, sports grounds, roads and commandant house.

Having started in 2013, the projects will be completed in 2015. A large number of senior military officers, members of college alumni and college faculty were present on the occasion, said an ISPR press release issued here.

The COAS, in his address, said provision of the best infrastructure to education institutions in the country was vital for grooming of the youth.

He emphasized that overall environment in these institutions had to be in harmony with the modern day requirements to make future generations capable of handling and leading the phenomenon of change.

Praising the achievements of MCJ, the COAS said in its 88-year history, the MCJ had done a commendable job as a feeder institution for the army.

He hoped that recent addition of two new military colleges at Murree and Sui would go a long way in providing the best possible educational facilities to youth.

Earlier on his arrival in the college, the Chief of the Army Staff was received by Lieutenant General Raheel Sharif, Inspector General Training and Evaluation, Lieutenant General Sajjad Ghani, Quarter Master General and Lieutenant General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Commander 10 Corps.
