Gabol announced his decision during a news conference at the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) headquarters, Nine Zero on Sunday.
Upon his arrival, Gabol was greeted by members of the MQM’s Rabita Committee and party workers.
Gabol said the PPP was no longer the party it once was and he was finally moving on after a tenure of 25 years.
Gabol added that he always felt that Nine Zero was his second home and praised the leadership of MQM chief Altaf Hussain. “In politics a leader considers his workers like his children, which is demonstrated by Altaf Hussain.”
The former PPP leader added that the MQM chief had shown concern for his wellbeing while his former party had disregarded his constituency (Lyari).
“It is better for me to leave PPP and help the people of Lyari.” Gabol said
Gabol said his task with the MQM would be to bridge differences and work towards establishing brotherhood between different ethnicities.
Speaking during the news conference, MQM Deputy Convener, Farooq Sattar welcomed Gabol to the party and said his inclusion would help further the vision of Altaf Hussain across Pakistan and especially in Sindh.
