Dr Shehzad nominated as Leader of House in Senate

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has nominated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Dr Shehzad Waseem as Leader of the House in Senate following the appointment of Shibli Faraz as Information Minister.

In this context, the PM has written a letter to Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani to inform him about Waseem's nomination, a press release said on Thursday.

A notification regarding the appointment of new chairman Senate is likely to be issued by chairman Senate soon.

According to Rule 2(1) of Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Senate 2012, "'Leader of the House' means the Prime Minister or a member appointed by him to represent Government and regulate Government business in the Senate when the Prime Minister is not sitting in the House."

It is expected that the new leader of the house in Senate represent treasury benches in the Senate session starting today (Friday).
