48 receive President's awards

LAHORE: Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khan Khosa here on Wednesday conferred upon the President's awards (Pakistan Civil Awards) to 48 persons for their outstanding services in the field of agriculture, science, engineering, medical, art, sports, literature, social services, law and order, music, nuclear technology and journalism. These awards included 10 awards of Sitara-i-Imtiaz, 19 each of Pride of Performance and Tamgha-i-Imtiaz. The award distribution ceremony held at Governor House was largely attended by parliamentarians, officers of various departments, PPPP office-bearers and the families of the award winners. Those who received Sitara-i-Imtiaz were: Dr. Qamar Zaman Chaudhry Advisor Climate Affairs, Prof. Dr. Tasawar Hayat from QAU Mathematics Department, Meritorious Prof. Dr. Mrs. Asghari Maqsood, Prof. Dr. Shaukat Mahmood Maxim, Asimul Haq Qureshi, Dr. Zaffar Iqbal, Mrs. Parveen Tawwab Founder and Honorary Director of Rising Sun Institute for Special Children, Dr. Rizwan Naseer DG Rescue-1122, Iftikhar Ahmed for his grandfather Maulana Hafiz-ur-Rehman (Late) and Mian Muhammad Hanif Chairman Madina Group of Industries. Those received Pride of Performance Award included: Dr. Shahzad Mahmood from PINSTECH, Prof. Dr. Khalida Inayat Noor, Saleem Akram Ansari, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nawaz VC of UVAS Lahore, Wazir Afzal, Ustad Hussain Bukhsh Gullu, Farhat Sultan for her husband Ustad Sharafat Ali Khan (Late), Mrs. Samina Ahmed, Muhammad Alam from Ustad Alam Institute of Blue Pottery, Mr. Habib-ur-Rehman, Prof. Dr. Manzoor Akhter Tehsin Firaqi from Punjab University, Mr. Ashfaq Hussain Zaidi c/o Iftikhar Arif Chairman National Language Authority, Ahmed Saleem (Muhammad Saleem Khawaja), Prof. Saifur Rehman Saifi from ILM College Gujrat, Anwar Malik for his father Saleem Ahmed (Late), Mrs. Farhat Saleem for her husband Mr. Anwar Saleem Ahmad (Late), Mr. Khalid Ahmad, Noreen Shahid Butt for her husband Mr. Shahid Pervaiz Butt (Late) and Mr. Aleem Sarwar Dar. Those who were awarded Tamgha-i-Imtiaz included: Dr. Shahid Qamar, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nawaz Tahir from University of Sargodha, Prof. Dr. Faqir Muhammad Anjum from Agriculture University Faisalabad, Qamar Aijaz Alavi, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tufail, Mst. Mai Mitho for her husband Faqira Bhagat (Late) from Cholistan, Mr. Muhammad Ashraf Khan, Miss Saira Nasim, Mr. Ghulam Abbas, Perwaiz Haider for his father Master Ghulam Haider (Late), Dr. Hamid Hussain (Mirza Hamid Baig), Mrs. Nasreen Anjum Bhatti, Mr. Tariq Mahmud, Mr. Rashid Ahmad Malik, Aslam Tareen CCPO Lahore, Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema DIG (Welfare) Lahore, Mr. Nisar Ahmad Khan, Mr. Tahir Iqbal from FIA, and Mr. Sajid Ali from FIA.
