faisal-sabzwari 400KARACHI: Deputy Parliamentary Leader of Mutahidda Qaumi Movement in the Sindh Assembly, Faisal Ali Sabzwari Friday said targeted killings and extortion were continued unabated in Karachi despite meetings of MQM leaders with President Asif Ali Zardari and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah on this issue.

“We have presented the list of our party workers killed during one month to CM Sindh. It is now his responsibility to take up the matter with higher authorities and take action,” he said while speaking to media outside the assembly building while session was in progress.

He said MQM was ready to quit PPP-led coalition government if it is assured the peace will be restored in Karachi with this move. He said it was feared that people of Karachi might ignore MQM’s repeated calls for remaining peaceful if immediate steps were not taken to address concerns related to targeted killings and rampant extortion in the city.

MQM leader said it was the time government should start taking the matter seriously and go for solid remedial measures. He reiterated that patronage of criminals by influential elements should be ended immediately. “A conspiracy is being hatched to destabilize the country through fomenting unrest in Karachi,” he added.
MQM leader and Sindh Minister for Information Technology Raza Haroon was also present.
