EU 2019/20 soft wheat exports 24.78mn T by April 5, up 66pc

• EU 2019/20 barley exports had reached 5.37 million tonnes, up 52pc from the year-earlier period.

PARIS: Soft wheat exports from the European Union in the 2019/20 season that started last July had reached 24.78 million tonnes by April 5, official EU data showed on Monday.

That was 66pc above the volume cleared by March 31 last year, the data showed.

EU 2019/20 barley exports had reached 5.37 million tonnes, up 52pc from the year-earlier period.

EU 2019/20 maize imports stood at 16.05 million tonnes, down 15pc.

The European Commission is continuing to include Britain in its weekly grain export and import data during the transition period following Britain's exit from the bloc.
