Facebook will run a public awareness campaign on its platform for Pakistani users to combat the spread of coronavirus.

A Facebook delegation called on Special Assistant to Prime Minister Imran Khan (SAPM) Dr Zafar Mirza  on Thursday. During their meeting, the delegation offered to run an awareness campaign to combat the novel virus in the country, local media reported.

The SAPM said that Pakistan and Facebook will join hands in fighting the spread of the deadly virus. He further said Facebook and the health ministry would soon launch a coronavirus prevention awareness campaign to highlight appropriate means of protection and guidelines to prevent the disease.

As there are are millions of Pakistani users on Facebook, Dr Mirza said, this step will help in raising awareness and will help Pakistan fight the virus.  He added that Facebook will also remove misinformation regarding coronavirus from Facebook pages.
