Mahathir Mohamad resigned on Monday as prime minister of Malaysia.

According to Reuters, Mohamad, 94, has submitted his resignation to the king. He has tendered resignation amid amid talks of forming a new coalition to govern the country. His party has also quit Malaysia ruling coalition.

Mohamad assumed office in May 2018 for the second time as PM.
