Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan said the Indian apex court's verdict over Babri Mosque had proved that Indian judiciary was helpless in front of Hindu fanatic forces.

The court on Saturday ordered allotment of alternative a piece of land to Muslims for construction of a mosque, he said, adding that this decision based on racial and religious prejudices that would further create flames not only in India but also in this region. By this verdict of the court, the present Indian government has a biased intention to stimulate the two religions and civilizations towards an unending social war.

He said the Kashmir dispute would be an unending threat to regional peace. The lockdown and communications blackout in occupied Kashmir has entered its 97th day, he pointed out. The people of the occupied land are in grip of frustration, annoyance and fear, he said.

He urged the international community to take concrete steps for providing justice to the oppressed Kashmiri people.

Talking about science and higher education, he said that science should not be used for the destruction of humanity; this is the responsibility of the scientists to make this knowledge blessing for the humanity.

He praised the efforts of Prof Atta-ur-Rahman for the promotion of higher education in the country.

AJ&K owns five universities and more than 100 colleges, he mentioned, adding that there was a dire need to make a strong academic and research collaboration between Kashmiri higher learning institutions and the premium research establishment of ICCBS.

He thanked the administration of the ICCBS for hoisting and playing the Kashmiri flag and the anthem in the closing ceremony.

Chairman, Prime Minister's National Task Force on Science and Technology, Prof Atta-ur-Rahman said that about 200 billion rupees had already been approved for the promotion of science and education in the country. The government is trying to promote the knowledge economy, while the country has been trapped in the traditional agriculture economy, he said. The government's new projects will help the nation in harnessing the benefits of modern science, he added.

He pointed out that the Kashmiri higher learning institutions should come forward, and submit their proposals so that they could take benefit from the government's current projects.
