Kartarpur opening: Modi thanks PM Imran Khan for ‘understanding sentiments of India’

• Imran Khan will inaugurate the Kartarpur Corridor today afternoon.
• Sikh pilgrims from India will no longer need a passport to cross over into Pakistan.

Indian Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi expressed his gratitude to PM Imran Khan for the opening of the Kartarpur Corridor for Sikh pilgrims, the inauguration for which will take place today on 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Devi Ji.

Speaking at the  inauguration of the Integrated Check Post of the Kartarpur Corridor, the Indian PM said that he thanks the Pakistan PM for understanding the sentiments of India. "I would like to thank the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan Niazi, for respecting the sentiments of India," Modi said.

The Indian PM also thanked the labour in both countries for completing the construction in such a short time. Modi said that the opening of Kartarpur Sahib Corridor before the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Devi Ji has brought them immense happiness.

Similar to Pakistan, Modi has also released a special coin on the eve of 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak. The Indian PM saw off the first group of pilgrims who will be received by PM Khan at the shrine today.
