'Don't be a tough guy, don’t be a fool': Trump urges Erdogan to resolve Syria invasion humanely

US President Donald Trump has warned Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan that if the Syria issue is not contained and resolved in a humane way, he will destroy Turkey's economy.

Trump's letter to Turkish president first obtained by a Fox Business reporter. Later, the authenticity of the letter  which is dated October 9 was confirmed to various news outlets by the White House.

In his letter, the US president has urged his counterpart to 'make a deal'. “You don’t want to be responsible for slaughtering thousands of people, and I don’t want to be responsible for destroying the Turkish economy – and I will,” Trump threatens.

Trump has also urged Erdogan not to be a 'tough guy' and 'not to be a fool' regarding the current situation in Syria. Urging the Turkish president not to let the world down, Trump says history will look upon Erdogan favorably if he gets this done the right and humane way. "It will look upon you forever as the devil if good things don’t happen,” Trump says in his letter.

The US president also said that General Mazloum is willing to negotiate with the Turkish president and is willing to make concessions that they would never have made in the past. Trump also enclosed General Mazloum's letter to Erdogan.

"Don’t be a tough guy. Don’t be a fool!” Trump finished, adding: “I will call you later.”

Days after the Trump administration announced it would pull US troops out of Syria, Turkey has launched a military operation in northern Syria. "Turkish Armed Forces together with the Syrian National Army against PKK / YPG and Deash terrorist organizations in northern Syria #Bar??P?nar?Harekat? has started,” Erdogan wrote on Twitter.

Erdogan said that it was their  aim to destroy the terror corridor which is trying to be established on Trukey's southern border and to bring peace and peace to the region.
