  • Senior govt ministers alleged they were not allowed to enter the venue despite reaching the spot on time.
  • Minister upset that people from opposition were allowed entry while others were stopped without any reason.

(Karachi) Federal ministers of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf government have expressed annoyance over 'mismanagement' at the grand reception that was hosted Tuesday night in honour of Britain's Duke and Duchess, Prince William and Kate Middleton, at National Pakistan Monument.

Sources close to the ministers said that federal ministers including Brigadier (R) Ijaz Shah, Khusro Bukhtiar, Fawad Chaudhry, Firdous Ashiq Awan, Naeem-ul-Haq and others have shown resentment and anger over lack of proper arrangements at the royal event.

The ministers alleged that they were not allowed to enter the venue despite reaching the spot on time. According to them, people from the opposition were allowed entry at the event while most government officials, including senior ministers, were stopped at the entrance without any reason.

Condemning the treatment allegedly meted out to them, the ministers have decided to highlight the matter and bring it into the knowledge of British High Commissioner Thomas Drew.

The event was hosted by British High Commissioner in which political figures, both from the government and opposition, were invited. Prince William and Kate met people from different segments of the Pakistani society.

Prominent personalities including Director General Inter-Services Public Relations Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor, Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan, cricketer Wasim Akram and his wife Shaniera Akram, cricketer Mohammad Hafeez, and other celebrities from Pakistan's entertainment industry attended the event.
