PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government Tuesday authorized six administrative departments responsible for tax collection while 13 non-tax collecting bodies.

White Paper 2019-20 contained that the departments made responsible for tax collection included Excise Taxation and Narcotics Control for collection of Urban Immovable Property Tax, Motor Vehicle Excise, Infrastructure Development Cess and Tobacco Development Cess.

KP Revenue Authority (KPRA) will be responsible for collecting sales tax on 91 services under Finance Act 2013 while Revenue and Estate Board of Revenue would collect tax from Mutation, Agricultural Income Tax, Stamp duties, Registration fees, Land Revenue, urban capital value tax.

Similarly Energy and Power Department would be responsible for collecting tariffs on hydel power projects and electricity duty. Transport and Mass Transit will be responsible for collecting tax from Adda License fee, transport fares, goods and forwarding agencies, route permits fee, motor vehicle fitness and examiners.

Likewise, Information and Public Relations Department would collect tax from print and electronic media, printing press of DGPR, advertisements on Pakhtunkha FM Radio, registration and renewal of newspapers and advertising agencies.

It is further stated that 13 administrative departments including Administration, Home and Irrigation, Police, Labour, Public Health Engineering, Works and Services, Local Government, Forestry, Environment, Wildlife and Environmental Protection Agency, Mines and Minerals Development, Sports, Culture Tourism, Archaeology, Museums and Youth Affairs, Elementary and Secondary Education, Higher Education, Law, Agriculture, Livestock, Dairy Development and Fisheries; Industries, Manpower and Technical Education (TEVTA) will not collect any provincial tax.
