HAMBURG: The Taiwan Flour Millers' Association has purchased 111,050 tonnes of milling wheat to be sourced from the United States in an international tender which closed on Tuesday, European traders said.

The purchase involved a range of different wheat types.

The wheat was bought in two consignments all from trading house Columbia Grain International.

The first consignment involved 29,950 tonnes of U.S. dark northern spring wheat of 14.5% protein content bought at $239.15 a tonne FOB U.S. Pacific Northwest coast, traders said.

The first consignment also involved 21,900 tonnes of hard red winter wheat of 12.5% protein content bought at $234.71 a tonne FOB and 4,500 tonnes of white wheat with 9% protein bought at $225.19 a tonne FOB.

The first consignment is for shipment between July 5-19 and has an additional freight charge of $26.84 a tonne for ocean shipping from the U.S. Pacific Northwest coast to Taiwan, they said.

The second consignment included 30,400 tonnes of U.S. dark northern spring wheat of 14.5% protein content bought at $240.26 a tonne FOB U.S. Pacific Northwest coast, traders said.
