CHICAGO: Chicago Board of Trade wheat futures plunged on Wednesday, as traders fretted over lagging US exports despite being competitively priced in the global market.

* CBOT wheat futures contracts - including most active May - fell to new contract lows on Wednesday, while K.C. wheat futures contracts all fell to new lows across the board.

* Chicago Board of Trade's March soft red winter wheat settled down 9 cents at $4.80-3/4 a bushel.

* K.C. March hard red winter wheat ended down 10-3/4 cents at $4.50 a bushel, while MGEX March spring wheat fell 6-3/4 cents to $5.48-3/4 a bushel.

* Egypt's state grains buyer, the General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC), said on Wednesday it bought 180,000 tonnes of French wheat, 60,000 tonnes of Romanian wheat, 60,000 tonnes of Russian wheat and 60,000 tonnes of Ukrainian wheat, the grains buyer said.

* The US Department of Agriculture is expected to release its forecasts for US 2019 corn, soybean and wheat plantings this week at its annual Outlook Forum.

* USDA is expected to release six weeks of US export data on Friday. The data release was delayed due to the partial government shutdown.
