A slight decrease in prices of important kitchen items, including vegetable, pulses, live chicken/meat, sugar, flour and others was witnessed in retail market, according to a survey carried out by Business Recorder here on Sunday.
The survey noticed a nominal decrease in price of live chicken/meat was witnessed as available at Rs 166 per kg which was selling at Rs 186 per kg in the previous week. However, price of farm egg was remained unchanged as being sold within range of Rs 100-120 per dozen in local markets.
Butchers are openly defying the official price as cow meat is being sold at Rs420 and Rs450 per kg against the official price of Rs370 per kg. Fresh milk is being sold at Rs 120-130 per kg against the official fixed price Rs80 per kg while yogurt is being sold at Rs 120 per kg against the official fixed rate of Rs90 per kg.
Similarly, tomato is being sold at Rs40 per kg against the price of Rs50 per kg in retail market, while price of onion was still sky-high in retail market as available within range of Rs60-70 per kg.
Likewise, the rates of ginger and garlic have gone down from Rs240 per kg to Rs200 per kg and from Rs200 per kg and Rs 160 per kg respectively. Lemon is being sold at Rs 100 per kg which was selling at Rs 120 per kg in the last week. Green chili was priced at Rs70 per kg which was available at Rs 100 per kg.
However, the survey witnessed that price of arvi, peas and capsicum have touched new peak as available at Rs80 per kg against the price of Rs60 per kg, and Rs 100 per kg and Rs 120 per kg respectively.
It was noticed that cauliflower is being sold at Rs80-100 per kg, while cabbage was priced at Rs50 per kg. Bringle was available at Rs50 per kg. Apple, round and long gourds are being sold at Rs60-70 and Rs80 per kg.
According to the survey, the price of sugar has increased at Rs80-82 per kg which was selling at Rs75-76 per kg in the previous week. Similarly, good quality gram flour (baisen) was available at Rs 100-120 per kg, while other being sold at Rs80-90 per kg in local market.
The survey witnessed the prices of pulses/food grains were remained unchanged in the retail market as no significant increase or decrease was witnessed. It was noted that good quality rice (sela) is being sold at Rs 140-150 per kg, while toota rice was available at Rs75-80 per kg. Dal mash is being sold at Rs 170 and Rs 190 per kg, dal channa was available at Rs 130-140 per kg, white lobiya at Rs 130 and Rs 140 per kg, red-bean at Rs 130-140 per kg.
The price big-size white channa was Rs 140 and Rs 160 per kg, while dal chilka (green) was being sold at Rs 140 and Dal Chilka (Black) being sold at Rs 130 per kg. Moonge was available at Rs 140 per kg. Dhoti dal is being sold at Rs 160. According the survey, the price of cooking oil/ghee were remained high-side in the retail market as available within range of Rs 170 and Rs 180 per litre/kg, and Rs 190 and Rs200 per litre/kg.
