Facebook to reportedly merge WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger

In order to allow cross-messaging across all of its messaging platform, Facebook is reportedly bringing together Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram.

According to a report by The New York Times, social media site Facebook will allow users to message each other across all its messaging platforms including WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Messenger.

Each of the messaging platforms will continue to operate as a standalone app, but Facebook is rebuilding the underlying messaging infrastructure so people who might be using only one of Facebook’s messaging services, could communicate with other within the firm’s ecosystems, reported The Verge.

WhatsApp limits message forwarding to fight fake news

A Facebook spokesperson said, “We want to build the best messaging experiences we can; and people want messaging to be fast, simple and reliable.” He also mentioned that all of the apps will support end-to-end encryption to secure privacy.

“We’re working on making more of our messaging products end-to-end encrypted and considering ways to make it easier to reach friends and family across networks. As you would expect, there is a lot of discussion and debate as we begin the long process of figuring out all the details of how this will work,” the representative continued.

Moreover, no official details have been released yet, but this integration can probably come by the end of this year or maybe early 2020.
