Activist Jibran Nasir to contest general election from Karachi

Human rights activist and lawyer, Mohammad Jibran Nasir, has announced that he will be contesting from Karachi in the upcoming general election.
The activist will be contesting as an independent candidate for the National Assembly constituency NA-247 (previously NA-250) and provincial assembly constituency PS-11 (previously PS-113).
Nasir confirmed that he will be filing nomination papers for the national and provincial seats. He added that as per election schedule, he will contest from one seat, local media reported. Nasir previously contested in 2013 elections from the NA-247 and PS-11, but did not win a seat.
The activist revealed that he would not be joining any political party but will form his own party, where like-minded people representing religious, ethnic, economic and gender groups and other fields will be included.
Nasir has been forefront in different ongoing cases such as Khadija Siddiqi stabbing case, Naqeebullah Mehsud extra-judicial murder case and Shahzeb Khan murder case.
