French wheat exports driven by intra-EU trade in March

PARIS: France exported 1.51 million tonnes of soft wheat in March, led by 925,000 tonnes shipped to other European Union countries, customs data showed on Friday.

The monthly volume took French intra-EU soft wheat exports since the start of the 2017/18 July-June season to 6.48 million tonnes.

The Netherlands was the leading destination for French wheat in March, with 264,000 tonnes shipped, followed by 243,000 tonnes to Belgium and 185,000 tonnes to Spain.

Algeria, usually the leading destination for French wheat, took 166,000 tonnes in March.

Total soft wheat shipments to non-EU countries reached 584,000 tonnes in March, taking the total since the start of the 2017/18 July-June season to 5.52 million.
