The eighth death anniversary of renowned radio, television and film artiste Jamshed Ansari observed on Saturday. Jamshed Ansari played the memorable role of Safdar in the longest run Radio programme 'Hamid Mian Kay Haan'. Listening in the programme became the second habit of the Pakistani people for more than four decades. His acting in popular PTV drama serials Uncle Urfi, Un-Kahi, Tanhayyan and others earned him much fame in the country and abroad.
Jamshed's first television play from Karachi television was `Ghora ghaas khata hai', written by Agha Nasir. Jamshed's love of acting not only took him irresistibly to the stage and television, but to radio as well. He contributed in numerous radio programmes. He earned fifty-five national and two international awards in his forty-one year show business career. Prominent among those were Quaid-e-Azam Award and Graduate Award. He died of brain tumour on 24th August 2005.
